What is the best AI website builder in 2026?

Start from what you need to own when the AI is done. VULK if you want the site as source code, with a database and sign-in when the site needs them. Wix if you want a hosted site with stores, bookings and a blog already built in. Squarespace for a polished small-business site you edit by dragging. Framer or Webflow if a designer will keep reworking the layout. Hostinger for the lowest entry price with hosting included. Durable if you run a small service business and want the AI to keep writing posts and gathering reviews for you.

Disclosure: VULK is our product, so weigh our view of it accordingly. We read each vendor's own pages on November 4, 2026. We did not run a controlled benchmark across the seven tools.

VULK: the site as code you own

You write what the site is for, who it is for and what it should do. VULK generates a React and Vite project, shows it in a live preview and takes follow-up requests such as "make the pricing section shorter" or "add a booking form". You publish it to a link, export the source as a ZIP or push it to GitHub.

When the site needs more than pages, the same project can have its own database, email-and-password sign-in and a REST API, so a waitlist form saves its sign-ups and a members area checks who is logged in. VULK also writes Three.js scenes when you want 3D on the page; the showcase has sites people generated with it.

Choose it when you want to read and change the code, or the site will grow into an app. Where the others win: a drag-and-drop editor is faster for moving one button, and a hosted builder hands you stores, bookings and email marketing ready-made, while VULK builds what you describe.

Wix: a hosted site with business tools inside

Wix says you can "go from a prompt to a business-ready website". Its agent, Aria, generates pages, sections and visuals as you talk to it, and you can switch to the drag-and-drop editor whenever you like. Online stores, scheduling and a blog come built in. You can start free; your own domain and online payments need a Premium plan.

Choose it when the site is the front of a business that takes bookings or sells products, and you would rather configure tools than build them.

Squarespace: a polished starting point

Squarespace's Blueprint AI turns a description of your business into "a multi-page starting point" with copy, images and styling in place. You can ask it for a custom section, such as a pricing display, and keep editing in the drag-and-drop editor. You can try it during a free trial, and you need a paid plan to publish.

Choose it when looks matter more than custom features, for example a studio, a restaurant or a portfolio.

Framer and Webflow: AI as a first draft for designers

Framer creates editable pages from a prompt, and its AI also refines layouts, manages CMS content and checks the site for contrast, typos and missing alt text. Webflow's AI site builder proposes a page structure you can adjust, then generates up to five pages with a starting style guide. Webflow states that it builds new sites only and does not rework existing projects.

Choose them when a designer will own the site after the first draft. Webflow lists HTML and CSS export on paid Workspace plans, without the CMS content; Framer's pricing page lists no code export.

Hostinger: the lowest entry price

Hostinger writes the first version of a site from a prompt or a template, and you edit design, text and images afterwards. Its comparison table lists a code editor and export. The Premium price of $1.99 a month applies to a 48-month term paid upfront ($95.52), and it renews at $10.99 a month.

Choose it when you want hosting, a domain and an AI draft for the least money, and you are fine committing for four years.

Durable: a website that keeps working for a small business

Durable generates pages and then runs AI agents that write blog posts, research keywords and ask customers for reviews. Every plan includes a small CRM. The free plan comes with 300 AI credits; Launch adds 1,000 credits a month and your own domain.

Choose it when you run a local service, such as a plumber or a cleaner, and want the site to keep publishing without you.

Can Lovable, Bolt or ChatGPT build a website?

Yes, and they lean towards apps. Lovable builds web apps from a conversation and documents a database, storage and sign-in inside Lovable Cloud. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini write site code in a chat; you take that code to a host yourself. Our comparison of the best AI app builders covers them in detail.

FAQ

Can an AI website builder make a site I can edit by hand?

All seven can. Wix, Squarespace, Framer, Webflow and Hostinger open the result in their visual editors. VULK gives you the source code, and you can also keep asking for changes in plain words.

Which AI website builders let you export the code?

VULK exports the whole project as a ZIP or to GitHub. Webflow lists HTML and CSS export on paid Workspace plans, without CMS content, and Hostinger's comparison table lists code export. We found no code export on the pricing pages of Wix, Squarespace, Framer or Durable.

Is an AI-generated website good for SEO?

It can be, if the text lives in the HTML, each page has its own title and description, and the copy says something specific about you. Rewrite the generic paragraphs the AI gives you, and add the facts only you know: prices, places, names and proof.

Can I build an online store with an AI website builder?

Wix and Hostinger list stores on their plans, and Squarespace sells commerce plans. With VULK you describe the store, and you get the pages, the product data in the project's database and the code; check what payment provider you want to connect before you start.

How current are these prices?

We read them on the vendors' pages on November 4, 2026, in US dollars. Taxes, promotions and regional prices can differ, so follow each link before you buy. VULK's current plans are on the pricing page.
